Hylurgops glabratus
Bark beetle Hylurgops glabratus
The adult is 3.5–4 mm long. Larvae develop in phloem of declining, deceased, broken or uprooted tree trunks. Even in case of outbreak they are not primary pests. Its feeding gallery is single-branched, with the egg gallery parallel to the trunk axis. The larval tunnels are more densely concentrated on one side of the maternal gallery which has a V-shaped bend at one end. The relative species Hylurgops palliatus is found in Europe.
The larval corridors are more concentrated on one side of the mathernal corridor. Mathernal gallery is hooked on one side.
